October 1983, it\u2019s when the first London Fashion Week took place. 34\u00a0years ago. The main concept of presenting collections to public is even older and goes back to XIX century.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, business-savvy designers employed women to wear their designs around popular promenades and\u00a0racetracks. It allowed them to be noticed, photographed and reported by the media – quite similar to what bloggers and celebrities do today. <\/p>\n

By\u00a0the end of XX century, many high fashion designers employed in-house models to display their latest collections to elite clientele. Those “fashion parades” (in french d\u00e9fil\u00e9)<\/i> lasted for hours and\u00a0were repeated for few day in a\u00a0row – exactly like fashion weeks nowadays. Till now in France the runway shows are called “d\u00e9fil\u00e9s de mode”<\/i>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
