Campaign like no other

Kakáslok. Just see.

Kakáslok means “little shit”. The New York based label was established just two year ago and is being not less controversial than the name itself. But let’s start from the very beginning.

Kakáslok founder, 20-year-old Ericka del Rosario, was born in Philippines. Her family, like any other in the district, was working long hours everyday, leaving the children in the care of an older woman. Del Rosario’s babysitter used to call her pupils by nicknames and Ericka’s was Kakáslok or just “little shit”. So there the name for the label comes from.

After moving to New York, del Rosario studied at Parsons School of Design (that is one of the world’s leading art and design schools), but she was dropped out. Why?? Now she’s one of the top designers, already worked for Opening Ceremony and Dover Street Market, then made internship at Alexander Wang, still being in her 20s – that’s the second controversy.

Whatever people say, del Rosario is successfully developing her label, blending the wearability of streetwear together with the craftsmanship of couture. It’s like Alexander Wang, Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, Y-3 and COMME des GARÇONS all together.

“Boyhood” Campaign is

Kakáslok second one. It was made as a magazine and photographed by Mikey Estrada and Ericka del Rosario herself.
