Copenhagen FW Summary

What a week! Copenhagen Fashion Week AW15 was a great time. With thirty shows, four trade fair destinations and Fashion Week Festival full of inspiring events, we have seen what Nordic region is all about: trend-aware prêt-à-porter fashion. See the Danish trends from CPHFW in our summary.

“We’re not born into fashion; we come from a much more architectural background. Danes are casual and we dress comfortably. We bike a lot and we spend our money on homes and not on clothing. I guess that’s what gives our clothes that kind of effortless air,” noted Charlotte Eskildsen from Designers Remix label. This is exactly what we saw on the catwalks. Most of the brands presented wearable, ready-to-wear collections, that would easily slot into our autumn-winter wardrobes.

Even though Danish streets are highly black and grey, designers decided on strong colours (red, amaranth, shades of blue and yellow), as well as graphic prints. It was a pleasant surprise – especially Henrik Vibskov’s “Messy Massage Class” collection.

Loads of casual looks, comfortable textiles and unisex forms appeared at the catwalks, according to the “feel-good 70s wave”. If you have your mum’s old flares in wardrobe (also called bell-bottoms due to its shape) – it’s also time for them. 70s were still a bit hippie, with folk patterns and layering that are coming back this season. Wearing a few blouses at once, matching jeans with dresses or multiplying sweaters, why not! Very popular were also “tight on top and loose on bottom” silhouettes.

Another strong trend in AW15 collections was minimalism. As we said before patterns and prints got its spot for autumn-winter, but there were great monochrome sets as well. Danes stand for minimal looks and many pieces could be matched together in different silhouettes, that makes the collections super functional.
